MISSISSIPPI QUEEN was formed in 1989., and is now the oldest rockabilly band in Croatia. Started as a drumless combo, but over the years have seen many changes in formation, and as well in personnel. Today, Mississippi Queen is a 4-piece rockabilly band, with Karlo Starcevic on vocals, and Jurica Stelma on double bass as the only ones from the original line-up. The band has played numerous concerts all over the world, appeared many times on National television and radio broadcasts. Hit the stages of clubs and festivals in Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, England, Sweden, Spain, Czech Republic, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Japan and USA. After doing several promotional albums in Croatia, which are now rare and deleted, first official album release came in 2004. for the Rhythm Bomb Records label from Germany/UK. The CD album DID YOU SAY LOVE featured original songs for the first time, and was immediately recognized by the audience as a great authentic rockabilly album. Due to great reviews DID YOU SAY LOVE has gained, second Rhythm Bomb release followed shortly – ROCKABILLY HEAVEN BOUND – one that featured guitar work by Axel Praefcke, who was an active member of the band at that time. More original songs were recorded for that album, and it launched the biggest dancefloor hit, Rockabilly Heaven Bound, that is still in the „charts“ by means of DJs set lists.
After doing the ROCKABILLY HEAVEN BOUND album, Mississippi Queen changed its line-up once again, only to get more versatile sound and be more attractive for international stages – with drums included, it sure was the right choice. 2016. is the year when their third official album is released – OH YEAH – songs that will again prove Mississippi Queen as the backbone of the rockabilly scene nowdays.
